Jesus Heals A Man
With Withered Hand

Healing Of Withered Hand
Later, Jesus and the
twelve returned to Galilee, and on the day before the Sabbath Day they reached
the home of Jesus in Capernaum. And on the Sabbath Day, they went up to the
synagogue. The multitudes were there and Jesus taught. Among the worshippers
was one, a man who had a withered hand. The Scribes and Pharisees observed that
Jesus saw the man, and then they said, “What will He do? Will He attempt to
heal upon the Sabbath Day?
And Jesus knew their thoughts and He called to the man who had the withered
hand and said, “Arise, stand forth before these people.” And Jesus said, “You
Scribes and Pharisees, speak out and answer me. Is it a crime to save a life
upon the Sabbath Day? If you had sheep, and one of them fall into a pit upon
the Sabbath Day would you do wrong to take it out? Or would it please your God
to let it suffer in the swamp until another day?” But his accusers held their
peace. And then he said to them, “Is a sheep of greater value than a man? The
law of God is written on the rock of Right. Justice wrote the law, and Mercy
was the pen.”
And then he said, “Man, raise your hand and stretch it forth.” The man raised
his hand. It was restored. The Pharisees were filled with rage. They called in
secret council the Herodians, and they began to plot
and plan how they might bring about the death of Jesus. They were afraid to
publicly accuse Jesus, because the multitudes stood forth in His defence.
And Jesus and the twelve went down and walked beside the sea, and many people
followed them.
The Man With A
Withered Hand
Again
Jesus entered the synagogue, and a man was there who had a withered hand. And they watched Him, to see whether He would
heal the man on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. And Jesus said to the man who had the
withered hand, “Come here.” And He said
to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to
do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. And He looked around at them with anger,
grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your
hand.” The man stretched it out, and his hand was restored. The Pharisees went out, and immediately held
counsel with the Hero′di-ans against Jesus, how
to destroy Him. Mark 3:1-6
A Multitude At The
Seaside
Jesus
withdrew with His disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee
followed; also from Judea and Jerusalem
and Idume′a and from beyond the Jordan and from
about Tyre and Sidon a great multitude, hearing all that He did, came to
Him. And Jesus told His disciples to
have a boat ready for Him because of the crowd, lest they should crush Him; for He had healed
many, so that all who had diseases pressed upon Him to touch Him. And whenever the unclean spirits beheld Him,
they fell down before Him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” And Jesus strictly ordered them not to make
him known. Mark 3:7-11
